How to Play Puff the Magic Dragon on Banjo
Thanks for sharing! Loved the 3/4 backup ideas!
Wow! I could just listen to this the way anyone would listen to a great recording. But I forget - I have a banjo on my lap and need to start picking!!! Thanks for this master-work of cool blues licks!
Thanks for the nice comment, Jud
Pretty cool and inspirational, I just might NOT throw in the towel yet and give it a further go.

The last gag should've got the applause .
" drop C " - capo at 2 for " D " .
VERY well explained!
This stuff is GREAT!!!!!
Thanks Bob, hope you are enjoying picking it.
Wow, Eddie, thanks for making this!
Thank you so much for putting out these videos! They have helped me SOO much and the way you explain things simply and clearly without extraneous information is extremely helpful! Question on this video: If 95% of the time the first chord is the key, and 99% of the time the last chord is the key, what about when the first and last chord are not the same- how do you know?
Assume it is where the song lands at the end, especially if it sounds like everything comes to a conclusion with that chord.
Thenk you, very ery motivating !
the goldtone ac1 has a very bad tailpiece,,,, very difficult to replace strings,,,,,!!!!!!!!!!
You have a very good point. I had the same experience when changing strings...very difficult. That didn't come up when I did the review, since the strings were brand new. Gold Tone should consider a better design for that. Still love everything else about it.
@@eddiecollins2394 hi sir, I am very satisfied with this banjo, but I replaced the tailpiece (the original is too difficult to replace strings, too bad) greetings from Belgium
Great video with immediate practical application! Thank you!
This was a fantastic lesson. Thank you for doing this.
Very practical and helpful!
Sweet Thanks
A very good teacher of the mandolin.
Thank you, Cripple Creek, friendly greetings from Croatia! I like your way of learning.
Good material even on the second or third viewing 😅
Wow! You are a fantastic teacher! I’m loving it. On this channel almost daily. I’m still bad enough to need help with more complicated tunes but good enough to catch on with your teaching method. Thank you!!
Glad you are finding the videos useful. Thanks.
Nice job thanks
I think you've got a great vocal - like a pleasant Bob Dylan!
hello
hello eddie collins my dear! do you have ''rapid transit banjo tab avaiable for sale??? i need play this amazing song in my banjo. thanks for answer.
Thank You for this Great Lesson.
mister eddie thats right! is that amazing song ! one question! do you have TAB avaiable for this song, banjo tab????
Hi Eddie, I am brand new at the banjo, actually it's a 4 string Irish Tenor Banjo, however, I know my way around the guitar so I'm hoping that gives me some small edge. I just purchased this thing for $150.00 and I was told it's from the 1960's. It's called a Beltone banjo.
🪕🥰
friend collins you know the name from the song whem beggining you video???
That is the title cut from my Rapid Transit album. It is on Spotify, Apple Music, etc.
Wow what an amazing Teacher. Clear and precise. No Gimmicks. Love tip on similar Chord Progressions.
Thank you. Happy Picking!
Loved this lesson! How can we get a copy of the tab for this?
Request it via the email in the address in the video description.
As someone that plays Clawhammer with no picks, can i still do this maybe using a 2 finger thumb lead type of playing instead?
You can read the tab the same, then choose a right hand pattern that you can combine with the chords during the "fast" part.
The word mit is actually spelled mitt.
I love that you have both the video and fretboard diagram. So helpful to my learning of these licks.
howdy again, I left a message about a month ago saying that I would be back to try this once I got some more experience with playing the Banjo. Well I can follow along at 50% speed now - 1 think another week or so and I should be up to 75%. Thank you again.
Eddie, hi. Great banjo sound, and the speed is adequate, thank you very much for the tab. I am from Europe and Croatia and I try to enjoy playing the banjo. Friendly greeting
Thank you!!! Saludos desde Argentina
Thanks Eddie for another helpful video. How do you have your strap attached? It looks like it is attached to a tuning peg.
Yes, it is a specially designed strap that goes over the head stock and has a slit to go over the E tuning peg. I feel it has better balance this way instead of the scroll.
Thanks for the information Eddie. After I saw where you had your strap connected, I copied the location with a shoelace between the tuning pegs connected to my strap. I have been using it that way ever since. You are right about better balance.
Brilliant!
Fantastic, thank you. its such a great song, will enjoy playing that. I love your Stelling Banjo its so effin gorgeous. Let me know if your ever inclined to transcribe Misty Ray Stevens made it a hit.Thanks.😀
❤
This answered my question about whether any of the rolls I knew from guitar finger picking would work on banjo! Lots of great ideas, Eddie.
Thanks Susan. Definitely some specific patterns for banjo, like the forward/backward roll, just by the way it includes that high pitch G, whereas a simple inside roll that doesn't strike string 5, would work on both instruments.
Haven't read through all the comments, but another aspect is a positive environment.. Like keep it down... then they wanna show for their mates..
hello collins the beggining the video and the last ending is the same ending? where i find them???
Sorry, I don't have have that one tabbed out. I was most just playing the opening line to 8 More Miles to Louisville.
Hey Eddie! Great channel!! What's the name of the starting track of this video? I really enjoyed it!!
That is the title cut to my Rapid Transit CD. It's on spotify and all the usual places. I don't have a video for it, but can send the tab if interested. Just follow the instructions in the video description above and put "Rapid Transit" and your email address in the note to seller.
Very very nice.
Thanks for this very helpful video.
Also, I would like to add that I purchased your ibook on 10 steps to the mandolin and it is great.
Hi and thanks for making this video. It is full of helpful information.
Brilliant, thanks for this
Thanks, just what I was looking for in my playing!🪕🪕🪕
